Aneuploid

Describing a cell or organism that has an abnormal number of chromosomes, meaning it does not contain an exact multiple of the haploid set. This condition arises from the gain or loss of one or more individual chromosomes. Down syndrome, caused by trisomy 21, is a common example of aneuploidy in humans.
