Monotectic reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007562
A reversible invariant reaction in a binary or multicomponent system where a liquid phase transforms into a solid phase and another liquid phase upon cooling. This occurs at a specific temperature and composition, where the two liquid phases are immiscible. The process is characterized by the decomposition of one liquid into a solid and a second liquid phase.
