Eutectic reaction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004121

An isothermal reversible reaction in which a liquid solution transforms into two or more intimately mixed solid phases upon cooling. The composition at which this reaction occurs is known as the eutectic point, representing the lowest melting point for a mixture of the components. This reaction is a key feature in phase diagrams of multi-component systems.
