Hybrid material
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005439
A material composed of two or more distinct phases, at least one of which is organic and another inorganic, where the phases are intimately mixed at the nanometer or molecular scale. These materials exhibit properties that are synergistic combinations of their constituent parts. They are often synthesized via sol-gel processes or by incorporating organic components into inorganic matrices.
