Hybrid mass spectrometer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005438
A mass spectrometer that combines two or more different types of mass analyzers in series, allowing for multiple stages of mass analysis (MSn). This configuration enables advanced experiments such as tandem mass spectrometry, where ions are selected, fragmented, and then analyzed. Common combinations include quadrupole-time-of-flight (Q-TOF) and ion trap-Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (IT-FTICR) instruments.
