MSn
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007609
A notation indicating multiple stages of mass spectrometry, where 'n' represents the number of sequential mass analysis steps performed. Each stage involves mass selection of an ion, followed by fragmentation and subsequent mass analysis of the resulting product ions. This technique is used to obtain structural information about complex molecules by breaking them down into smaller, identifiable fragments.
