Tandem mass spectrometry in time
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011811
A mass spectrometry technique where multiple stages of mass analysis are performed sequentially within a single mass analyzer, rather than using spatially separated analyzers. Ions are trapped and subjected to successive dissociation and mass selection steps over time. This method is often implemented in ion trap mass spectrometers, such as Paul ion traps or linear ion traps.
