Tandem repeat sequence
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011812
A segment of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) in which a short nucleotide sequence is repeated head-to-tail multiple times at a single location on a chromosome. These sequences are highly variable in length among individuals due to differences in the number of repeated units. The number of repeats at specific loci is a key marker in DNA profiling techniques.
