Deoxyribonucleic acid cloning
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003010
The process of creating multiple identical copies of a specific deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) sequence. This is typically achieved by inserting the DNA fragment into a vector, such as a plasmid, and then introducing the recombinant vector into a host cell for replication. DNA cloning is a fundamental technique in molecular biology and genetic engineering.
