Deoxyribonucleic acid fragmentation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003011
The process by which deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecules are broken into smaller pieces. This can occur naturally during processes like apoptosis or be induced artificially for analytical purposes, such as sequencing or gel electrophoresis. Endonucleases are enzymes that specifically cleave DNA strands, leading to fragmentation.
