Deoxyribonucleic acid fragmentation index

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003012

A quantitative measure reflecting the extent of breakage in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) strands within a sample. This index is determined by analyzing the size distribution of DNA fragments, where a higher index indicates more extensive degradation. It serves as an indicator of DNA integrity, which is relevant in fields such as toxicology and forensic science.
