Exogenous deoxyribonucleic acid
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004213
A deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) molecule that originates from outside the organism, cell, or system being studied. This foreign genetic material is introduced into a host cell or organism through natural processes like viral infection or through artificial methods such as transfection or transformation. In molecular biology, it is used as a tool for genetic modification, with plasmid DNA being a common form of exogenous DNA.
