Cloning vector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002133
A DNA molecule, such as a plasmid or virus, used to carry foreign genetic material into a host cell, where it can be replicated and expressed. These vectors are designed to have specific features, including an origin of replication, a multiple cloning site, and a selectable marker. Common examples include bacterial plasmids and bacteriophages.
