Shuttle vector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010838
A type of plasmid or viral vector that can replicate in at least two different host organisms, typically a prokaryote (like E. coli) and a eukaryote. This dual-host capability allows for easier manipulation and cloning of DNA in a bacterial system before introduction into a eukaryotic cell. Shuttle vectors contain origins of replication and selectable markers for each host.
