Deoxyribonucleic acids

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003019

A class of macromolecules that carries the hereditary information for an organism's development and function. Each molecule consists of two long polymer chains made of nucleotides, which are wound together into a double helix structure. The sequence of the four nucleotide bases, adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine, encodes the genetic instructions for building proteins and other functional molecules.
