Double helix
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003405
A structural motif in which two helical strands are wound around a common axis. In biology, this describes the characteristic structure of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), where two polynucleotide strands are coiled together. The strands are held in place by hydrogen bonds between complementary base pairs.
