Double injection

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003406

The simultaneous entry of both electrons and holes into a device or sample, normally from two different electrodes, one supplying each carrier type. The carriers meet and recombine, which underlies light emission in organic light-emitting diodes, and the process is also used to charge electrets. It contrasts with single injection, in which only one carrier type enters and the current is limited by its space charge.
