Electret

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003625

A dielectric material that exhibits a quasi-permanent electric charge or dipole polarization, analogous to how a permanent magnet retains its magnetic field. This persistent polarization is typically induced by applying a strong electric field during or after solidification, or by charge injection. Electrets find applications in microphones, air filters, and electrostatic generators.
