Elastomer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003624
A polymeric material that exhibits rubber-like elasticity, meaning it can be stretched to many times its original length and then return to its approximate original shape upon release of the stress. This property arises from a loosely cross-linked network of flexible polymer chains. Natural rubber and synthetic rubbers like silicone are common examples of elastomers.
