Subchain
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013606
A segment of a polymer chain that is defined by specific points along its length, often between cross-links or entanglement points. These segments behave as independent units in certain physical processes, such as rubber elasticity. The average length of a subchain influences the mechanical properties of a network polymer.
