Junction-point density

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006293

The count of crosslink points, where network chains meet, in each unit volume of a polymer network. It reflects how densely the material is crosslinked and so governs its elasticity and its swelling in solvents. A higher density gives a stiffer network that swells less, and in the simplest rubber elasticity model the shear modulus rises in direct proportion to it.
