Thermoreversible junction point
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011987
A region within a polymer network where chains are interconnected through non-covalent bonds that form or break in response to temperature changes. These points are responsible for the physical cross-linking that creates a gel structure from a polymer solution upon cooling. Unlike permanent covalent cross-links, these junctions arise from weaker physical interactions, such as hydrogen bonding, ionic aggregation, or the formation of microcrystalline domains.
