Junction point

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013226

A specific atom or group of atoms in a polymer network where three or more polymer chains are covalently linked. These points are responsible for the network's structural integrity and elastic properties. The functionality of a junction point, meaning the number of chains emanating from it, influences the network's crosslink density.
