Liquid junction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006680

The interface between two electrolyte solutions of different compositions or concentrations, which gives rise to a potential difference known as the liquid junction potential. This potential arises from the differing mobilities of ions across the interface. It is a common component in electrochemical cells, particularly reference electrodes.
