Bridge solution

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001499

An electrolyte solution that connects two half-cells in an electrochemical cell, allowing for the flow of ions to maintain charge neutrality without mixing the solutions directly. It typically contains a high concentration of an inert salt, such as potassium chloride. This prevents the buildup of charge that would otherwise stop the reaction.
