Kinetic electrolyte effect
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006351
The influence of inert electrolytes on the rate of a chemical reaction in solution. This effect arises from changes in the activity coefficients of the reacting species due to electrostatic interactions with the ions in the solution. It is typically observed in reactions involving charged species and is described by the Debye-Hückel theory.
