Debye

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002887

A non-SI unit of electric dipole moment, commonly used in atomic and molecular physics. One debye is defined as 10^-18 statcoulomb-centimeters, which is approximately 3.33564 × 10^-30 coulomb-meters. It is named after the physical chemist Peter Debye and is used to quantify the polarity of molecules.
