Kinetic activity factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006346
A correction factor applied in transition-state theory to account for the non-ideal behavior of reactants in a solution. It is the ratio of the rate constant at a finite concentration of reactants to the rate constant extrapolated to infinite dilution, where activity coefficients are unity. This factor is expressed as a product of the activity coefficients of the reactants divided by the activity coefficient of the activated complex.
