Base electrolyte
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012916
An electrolyte solution in which the substance to be determined is dissolved for an electroanalytical measurement. It contains a high concentration of an inert salt, known as the supporting electrolyte, which does not react at the electrodes within the potential range of interest. The supporting electrolyte's primary function is to minimize the electrical resistance of the solution and suppress the migration current of the analyte.
