Mean activity of an electrolyte in solution

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007066

A thermodynamic quantity that represents the effective concentration of an electrolyte in a solution, accounting for non-ideal behavior due to interionic interactions. It is defined as the geometric mean of the individual ion activities, raised to the power of their stoichiometric coefficients. This value is used in calculations involving chemical potentials and equilibrium constants for ionic solutions.
