Mean absorption time
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007065
The average time a drug molecule takes to be absorbed from its site of administration into the circulation, found as the mean residence time after a non-intravenous dose minus the mean residence time after an intravenous dose. It reflects the speed of absorption rather than the amount absorbed. Each mean residence time equals the area under the first-moment curve divided by the area under the concentration-time curve.
