Frumkin effect

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004688

The influence of the electrical potential at the outer Helmholtz plane on the rate of an electrode reaction, particularly when the reactant is charged. This effect arises from the electrostatic interaction between the charged reactant and the electric field in the double layer. It can significantly alter the observed reaction rate constant.
