Inner Helmholtz plane
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005882
The plane passing through the centers of specifically adsorbed ions or molecules at an electrified interface, such as an electrode in an electrolyte solution. These ions, which are not fully solvated, are in direct contact with the electrode surface. The inner Helmholtz plane (IHP) is located closer to the surface than the outer Helmholtz plane, which marks the position of the closest solvated ions.
