Inner layer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005883
The region of the electrical double layer at an electrode-electrolyte interface that includes specifically adsorbed ions and solvent molecules directly adjacent to the electrode surface. This layer extends from the electrode surface to the outer Helmholtz plane. It is characterized by strong interactions between the electrode and the adsorbed species.
