Interfacial concentration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005935
The concentration of a species at the outer edge of the electrical double layer, on the solution side, just beyond the region in which the solution is appreciably non-neutral; the quantity appears in electrode kinetics. It is used when the double layer is much thinner than the diffusion layer, and it is obtained from theory or from limiting-current measurements. It differs from the bulk concentration, which is measured far from the electrode.
