Transcrystalline layer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012203
A region of oriented polymer crystallization that forms at an interface, such as between a polymer matrix and a reinforcing fiber. The polymer chains in this layer crystallize epitaxially on the surface of the interface, resulting in a distinct morphology compared to the bulk polymer. This layer can significantly influence the interfacial adhesion and mechanical properties of composite materials.
