Diffusion layer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003197
A thin region adjacent to an electrode surface or other interface where the concentration of reacting species differs significantly from the bulk solution due to mass transport limitations. Within this layer, diffusion is the primary mode of mass transfer. Its thickness is influenced by stirring rate and other hydrodynamic conditions.
