Diffusion layer thickness
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003198
The effective distance from an electrode surface over which the concentration of an electroactive species changes from its bulk solution value to its surface value during an electrochemical process. This concept simplifies the complex mass transport phenomena near the electrode. It is often denoted by the symbol δ and can vary with experimental conditions such as stirring rate.
