Thickness of diffusion layer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011995
The effective distance from an electrode surface into the bulk solution where the concentration of electroactive species differs significantly from the bulk concentration due to mass transport limitations. This region is characterized by a concentration gradient that drives diffusion of reactants to and products from the electrode. Its magnitude depends on factors such as stirring rate and diffusion coefficient.
