Thermotropic mesophase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011994
A liquid crystalline phase that forms when a substance is heated or cooled, exhibiting properties intermediate between those of a conventional liquid and a solid crystal. The molecules in this phase possess orientational order but lack full positional order. This type of mesophase is observed in many polymer liquid crystals.
