Barotropic mesophase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001116
A liquid crystalline phase whose existence and properties are primarily dependent on pressure rather than temperature. In these systems, changes in pressure can induce transitions between different mesophases or between a mesophase and an isotropic liquid. Such phases are less common than thermotropic mesophases, which are temperature-dependent.
