Cubic mesophase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002770
A type of liquid crystalline phase characterized by a three-dimensional, periodic arrangement of molecules or molecular aggregates, possessing cubic symmetry. These mesophases are optically isotropic due to their high symmetry, distinguishing them from other liquid crystalline phases that exhibit birefringence. They are often formed by amphiphilic molecules in solution or by block copolymers, creating complex nanostructures.
