Hexagonal mesophase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005279
A liquid crystalline phase characterized by a hexagonal arrangement of cylindrical aggregates. These aggregates are formed by the self-assembly of amphiphilic molecules, such as block copolymers or surfactants, in a solvent. The cylinders are packed in a two-dimensional hexagonal lattice, exhibiting long-range positional order in the plane perpendicular to the cylinder axes.
