Heterogeneous diffusion rate constant

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005247

The rate constant, in meters per second, that describes diffusion-limited transport of a species to an electrode, defined as the limiting current divided by n F c A, where n is the charge number, F the Faraday constant, c the bulk concentration, and A the electrode area. It equals the diffusion coefficient divided by the diffusion layer thickness, so it rises with stirring or electrode rotation, which thins the layer.
