Chronocoulometric constant

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002068

An empirically determined quantity equal to the slope of a plot of passed charge against the square root of time after a potential step, divided by the electrode area and the bulk concentration of the electroactive species. For a diffusion-controlled reaction it equals twice the number of electrons times the Faraday constant times the square root of the diffusion coefficient over pi, so area and concentration drop out. It follows from the integrated Cottrell equation.
