Cottrell equation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002620

An equation that describes the time-dependent current observed at an electrode under conditions of diffusion-limited mass transport, following a potential step. It relates the current to the concentration of the electroactive species, the diffusion coefficient, and the electrode area. This equation is applicable for planar, spherical, or cylindrical electrodes under specific conditions.
