Nikolsky-Eisenman equation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007943

An extension of the Nernst equation that describes the potential of an ion-selective electrode when interfering ions are present in the sample in addition to the primary ion of interest. The equation models the electrode potential as a function of the activities of both the primary and interfering ions, weighted by a selectivity coefficient for each interferent. This coefficient quantifies the electrode's preference for the primary ion over a specific interfering ion.
