Heyrovský-Ilkovič equation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005282

An equation that describes the current-potential curve for a reversible electrode reaction at a dropping mercury electrode under conditions where mass transport is controlled by diffusion. It relates the current to the concentration of the electroactive species, the diffusion coefficient, and the potential applied. This equation is a cornerstone in polarography, a voltammetric technique.
