Dropping mercury electrode
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003439
A working electrode in electroanalytical chemistry that consists of a continuous stream of small, discrete mercury drops falling from a fine capillary into a solution. Each drop provides a fresh, reproducible surface for electrochemical reactions, minimizing surface contamination effects. This electrode is commonly employed in polarography for trace metal analysis.
