Working electrode
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012720
The electrode in an electrochemical cell where the electrochemical reaction of interest occurs, and where the potential is controlled or measured. It is typically made of a conductive material such as platinum, gold, carbon, or mercury, chosen for its inertness or catalytic properties. The current flowing through this electrode is directly related to the rate of the electrochemical process being studied.
